Additional Information

The K-shaped strap consists of a horizontal strap and two diagonal straps. The neoprene insert, which is positioned in the middle of the horizontal strap, must be placed on the patient's chin. The centering mark on the insert facilitates correct alignment. The four ends of the K-shaped strap are pulled tight by the rescuer and inserted through the designated eyelets on the stretcher/spine board. The ends are then folded back so that the Velcro strips (hook and loop) can adhere to each other, closing the strap and keeping it securely in place. Only when there is a valid reason not to use a cervical collar should the elastic strap be placed under the patient's chin to limit movement of the head and neck.
