Application

Hold this ergonomic ascender with one or both hands. This is also possible while wearing thick gloves. Roll the Petzl Ascension upwards along a vertical line. In combination with a foot loop, you can easily climb up the rope. The ascender locks when you hang from it. This does not mean the ascender can serve as fall protection!

Use with a lanyard

You can attach the ascender directly to the harness. Or to a lanyard, so that you have more freedom of movement and can work at a distance from the rope. Ensure that the lanyard does not hang slack and that you do not climb above the ascender. Otherwise, there is a risk of a fall.

When using a lanyard, you can use a second ascender (such as the Petzl Croll). Attach this to the ventral (waist) attachment point of your climbing harness.

Additional fall protection

The optimal functioning of an ascender is never 100% guaranteed. For example, the lock could be opened accidentally. The ascender could slip due to a piece of clothing. The connecting carabiner could also open during climbing. Proper fall protection is therefore necessary.
