Info
During interventions in trees, external equipment such as a cherry picker or ladder cannot always be used. In that case, the arborist uses rope access techniques to move or work.
Examples of work sites
- Arborist adapting the tree to its environment or pruning it for shape
- Arborist maintaining the tree or removing dead and rotten branches
- Arborist felling a sick or dangerous tree (gradual dismantling of the trunk)
Technical specifications
- Access from the base of the tree generally begins by throwing a weighted throw bag attached to a thin line. This line is used to install the access rope on an anchor point high in the tree.
- When moving on branches, the arborist remains under tension on the work rope to ensure greater stability and limit any potential fall height.
- When using a cutting tool (e.g., a handsaw), the arborist must be connected with two separate safety systems.
