Application

The Petzl I'D S is an industrial descender. Controlled descent, positioning without a stopper knot, short ascents, hauling, rescue, and movement on horizontal or inclined surfaces: this versatile device can do it all. And if things get a bit too fast, the device will brake and stop. To ascend, you will also need an ascender such as the Petzl Ascension and a foot loop.

Functional and easy to use

The rope is quick and easy to install thanks to the click-to-fit system, even when the I’D S is attached to your harness
The safety gate with an error indicator reduces the risk of installing the rope incorrectly
The anti-panic function will slow and stop your descent in the event of an uncontrolled descent
The ergonomic handle allows you to descend in two modes: via the side plate or the V-shaped friction channel
The I’D S makes moving on horizontal or inclined surfaces easy
Easily position yourself without a stopper knot using the Autolock system
When the rope is removed, the handle automatically jumps to the storage position, preventing it from snagging on anything
The device is reinforced with stainless steel to protect against rope friction

Versatile application

Descend in a controlled manner
Lock the device to take in slack without needing to hold the handle. This allows for short ascents or setting up a reversible hauling system
The cam allows the rope to feed through easily during climbing
You can also use the I'D S in a rescue kit by locking the moving side plate
Easily expand the device with an additional open or closed brake
Suitable for lowering heavy loads up to 250 kg (experienced users only)
